Vertigo, Dizziness and Balance

Balance has three components: your inner ear, vision and proprioception. Dizziness and vertigo are generally caused by problems with your inner ear. There are different causes of vertigo. BPPV, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, can often be resolved for weeks or months at a time using the Epley manouevre.

However, vertigo can have other causes such as Meniere's disease. Meniere's has no cure, but can be treated by motion sickness pills. Better is to improve the balancing mechanisms that you do have control over, using your vision to improve balance and improved proprioception, using a bunch of exercises. These techniques are referred to as VRT Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy

Just like a yoga class, I would actually like to give a class on improving your balance, whether you have vertigo and dizziness or not, because these exercises are really, really good for you!

Important Update regarding Vertigo

This is recent Facebook post of mine. Vertigo. I am interested in all aspects of health, not just the relief of pain.

Stop all salt, oyster sauce, MSG etc and it will reduce water retention and also the symptoms of vertigo, although it won't completely banish the vertigo at least not overnight.

It took one of my clients multiple trips to many different experts and specialists (How can an Ear Nose and Throat person be a specialist in all three??) and thousands of dollars to find the above answer and I've just given it away to the world for FREE...

I have learned a lot about vertigo along the way, the different tests to distinguish between BPPV (Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) and Menieres Disease, exercises to do to reduce the symptoms ofvertigo. so I start off as a good cheap starting point for anyone with vertigo to help get a really good outcome in a short space of time for minimal dollars... instead of doing the rounds getting the run around parting with mucho dinero along the way.

Did you know that vertigo has reached pandemic proportions in some Asian nations due to the diet. Salt on desserts such as fruits. My wife likes salt on mangoes for example. Oyster sauce, which contains salt, is used in abundance in many Asian dishes.

Here are some dos and don'ts for your diet if you have vertigo! You're welcome!
